The main programs of the AWA are geared toward realizing its social and charitable goals. We provide a social network for English-speaking women and their families to interact in a wide spectrum of daytime and evening programs:

  • Monthly meetings appeal to the general membership, and include a program with speakers such as ambassadors, Austrian politicians, museum curators, journalists from local media and panelists discussing topics of interest to today's women.

  • Social gatherings and tours help members make friends, adapt to life in their new surroundings, and learn about Austrian culture and customs.

  • Approximately 20 daytime and evening activities including cultural events, language groups, sports and exercise, games and hobbies, arts and crafts, computer courses, cooking classes, and professional and career networking.

AWA organizes and holds major fundraising events each year, as well as smaller initiatives to give back to the community. Funds raised are distributed to charities and groups, primarily in Austria, which receive little or no government assistance, such as children's homes and orphanages, refugees and shelters for the homeless, ill and abused. AWA also supports charitable groups through clothing drives and volunteer services.
