Hi ladies, I'm Tammie! I am from the southern United States and was born in West Virginia. I met my husband, Darren, in high school. After dating for six years, we were married while attending Marshall University (famous for the Matthew McConaughey movie, 'We Are Marshall'). After graduation, we moved to Atlanta, Georgia. We will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary next year! I have also lived abroad in Madrid, Spain, London, UK and currently, Vienna, Austria!
We have two children, Caroline (23) and Casey (17). Caroline lives and works in South Carolina and I'm happy to say she was just accepted into SC Medical School. Casey attends school here at AISV and will graduate next year. I also have a 'human' golden retriever named Dixie! She goes where I go!
I have many passions and hobbies. A few things I love are the beach, warm weather, and of course, travelling. I love the adventure of travel and learning about new cultures. I have visited many countries from Asia, Europe, and N. Africa. This past summer, I had the opportunity to backpack for 90 miles along Hadrian's Wall in northern England from the Irish Sea to the North Sea.
While living in Atlanta, I volunteered for the Summer Olympic Games within the Athlete's Village. It was a very rewarding experience, as well as a fun one too! I met many different athletes from every country and enjoyed chatting with them throughout the village.
Although I am not a serious runner, I belong to a UK running group with approximately 100 female runners from around the world who have lived in London! I have taken part in 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons in Germany, Italy, UK, and Austria. For now, I am trying to figure out how to run the hills in the Vienna Woods!
A fun fact about me: Although I no longer work, I have 'worked' as an extra in several Hollywood movies and commercials. If you look closely, you can spot me in my most recent movie, 'Woman in Gold' with Ryan Reynolds and Helen Mirren!
Since joining AWA, I have been involved with the Charitable Organization committee. I am proud to say we have had several events and have raised a lot of money for the Wiener Frauenhauser organization.
Finally, I live each day to the fullest and simply enjoy life! In 2009, at what I think was a young age, I was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. Today, I have been given a chance to continue doing what I love most...loving, living and traveling!
